AI Won't Just Cut Costs—It Lets You Do the Impossible (CEO Explains)

Superwall

A CEO explains how AI enables companies to accomplish previously impossible tasks rather than just reducing costs. While competitors use AI for modest efficiency gains (50 ads vs 30 monthly), this company scaled ad production dramatically while tripling their creative team, making each human worker significantly more leveraged and productive.

Summary

The CEO contrasts two approaches to AI implementation: the cost-cutting perspective versus the capability-expansion perspective. Traditional approaches in app studios produced approximately 30 ads per month using conventional methods like filming actors. With AI adoption, competitors have modestly increased output to around 50 ads monthly while saving money and time. However, the CEO's company took a different strategy, focusing on AI's potential to enable fundamentally new capabilities rather than optimizing existing processes. By leveraging AI, they dramatically increased ad production volume and diversity. Notably, rather than reducing headcount, they tripled the size of their creative team over six months. This counterintuitive outcome—hiring more people while automating more—occurred because scaling ad output required scaling creative input proportionally. The CEO emphasizes that this creates extreme leverage for human workers: with a 3x team increase producing hundreds of times more output, each team member becomes exponentially more productive. This represents a shift from AI as a cost-reduction tool to AI as a force multiplier that amplifies human creativity and capability.

Key Insights

  • The speaker's company scaled ad production dramatically while tripling creative team size over 6 months, showing AI enabled growth rather than headcount reduction
  • Competitors achieved only modest gains (30 to 50 ads monthly) by treating AI as an efficiency tool, whereas the speaker's approach focused on enabling previously impossible tasks
  • Scaling ad output required proportional scaling of creative input and diversity, necessitating more human workers rather than fewer
  • Creating thousands of ads monthly would have been 'incredibly challenging' using old methods like filming actors, making this a previously impossible task now enabled by AI
  • A 3x team increase producing hundreds of times more output creates extreme leverage where each individual human worker becomes significantly more productive

[0:00] It's about using AI to do things which were impossible before. So, you know, be it create thousands of ads a month, you know, that would have been incredibly challenging if we were trying to do it the old fashioned way, filming actors, etc. And so, you know, that's I think one of the things like a lot of other [music] app studios companies like, you know, they were doing 30 ads a month with actors. Now, they might be doing 50 a month with AI. They've saved some money. It's faster, easier. But so [music] we really lean into AI's [0:31] potential and actually interestingly by doing that it usually requires a lot more humans like you know…
