Did Joe Kent Change His Mind on Iran?
Joe Kent defends his previous statements about Iranian proxy attacks on US troops, clarifying his position on Iran policy. He supports targeted strikes against Iranian proxies and leaders like Soleimani while opposing full-scale regime change war in Iran.
Summary
The discussion centers on Joe Kent addressing criticism he received for previous comments about Iranian proxy attacks on US forces. Kent reaffirms that Iranian proxies have attacked US troops in Iraq and Syria over 150 times, specifically clarifying that these proxies include elements of the Iraqi government that the US financially supports. He responds to accusations of being a 'flip-flopper' by explaining his nuanced position on Iran policy. Kent supports strong retaliation against Iranian proxies when they attack US forces and defends President Trump's decision to kill Iranian General Qasem Soleimani as justified and bold. However, he emphasizes an important distinction in his policy position: while he supports targeted strikes and removal of Iranian leaders from the battlefield, he opposes prolonged kinetic operations inside Iran that could lead to regime change war. Kent praises Trump's restraint in not escalating the Soleimani strike into a broader conflict, contrasting this approach with what he sees as the current administration's trajectory toward regime change in Iran.

President Trump was justified. He was really bold in the fact that he took…
