Gemma Bonner & Lucy Parry test their artistic skills | Liverpool FC Player Portraits

The video is part of Liverpool FC's 'AXA Player Portraits' series, in which players are challenged to try something new. In this episode, Gemma Bonner is paired with young fan Rita, and Lucy Parry is paired with young fan Ada. Each team is given a photo of a Liverpool FC player to paint in secret, with the opposing team tasked with guessing both the subject of the painting and which teammate painted which piece.

Throughout the 30-minute painting session, the host conducts light interviews with both players. Gemma Bonner reflects on captaining what she describes as arguably the best Liverpool FC women's team of all time, crediting the team's success to their winning mentality and collective belief. She also discusses her time playing in America, calling it one of the best decisions she made for her development as both a player and a person. When asked about the current captain Grace Fisk, Gemma is supportive, saying Grace has grown into the role brilliantly.

Lucy Parry's story is particularly poignant — she grew up as a Liverpool FC fan with a season ticket, collected player autographs including Gemma Bonner's, and even walked out as a mascot alongside her idol Lucy Bronze. She is now Liverpool's youngest player and describes the feeling of representing the club she always supported as 'crazy' and something she doesn't take for granted. Lucy advises young players to always believe in themselves, go at their own pace, and prioritize enjoyment of the game.

The young fans also contribute meaningfully. Ada asks both players when they decided they wanted to become footballers, and Rita asks about their experiences playing with boys in school. Both players engage warmly with the children throughout.

At the reveal stage, Lucy's team painted striker Leanne Kuman, correctly identified by the other team, while Gemma's team painted Jenna Clark, identified through clues like her brown hair, bun hairstyle, and recently pierced ears. Notably, Gemma had painted Jenna with notably large ears and a big head, which inadvertently gave away which painting was hers. Both teams successfully identified the subjects and the painters, making for a clean and entertaining conclusion.
