Jev mapped voice to color over the weekend
Jev built a real-time application that maps voice input to colors and emotions using OpenAI's real-time voice API, Java, and a quotes API. The system analyzes emotional tone and returns corresponding colors and relevant quotes in real time.
Summary
Jev created a real-time voice-to-color mapping application over the weekend that demonstrates practical integration of multiple APIs. The application accepts voice input as the primary data source and uses Java to process and analyze the emotional content of the speech. Based on the detected emotion, the system automatically selects a matching color and retrieves a relevant quote from a quotes API (Ninja's quote API). Jev demonstrates the application working live, showing that it correctly identifies emotions, assigns appropriate colors, and pulls matching quotes with impressive speed and accuracy. The speaker expresses enthusiasm about the real-time nature of the experience and highlights the creative potential of building interactive applications that combine voice analysis, visual feedback (color), and contextual text responses. The application showcases OpenAI's real-time voice API capabilities and the feasibility of emotion-responsive user experiences.
Key Insights
- Jev built a system that uses OpenAI's real-time voice API combined with Java backend processing to analyze emotional content from spoken input
- The application maps detected emotions directly to specific colors, creating a visual representation of emotional state
- The system integrates a quotes API (Ninja's quote API) to retrieve and display quotes that reflect the user's detected emotion
- The application demonstrates fast response times, with the correct color and quote being selected immediately upon voice input
- Jev argues that real-time emotion-responsive experiences have significant creative and entertainment potential beyond the technical implementation

[0:00] I created a real-time app that takes in voice and then uses Java to determine what color matches my emotion, then returns a quote that reflects my emotion. It uses Open AI's real-time voice API, uses Java, and then uses something like Ninja's quote API. Apparently there is an API for quotes. So we'll see if it works and how fast. I am in love today. I can't wait for the weekend. [0:31] Look at all these quotes, where the right color is immediately chosen, the right quote is chosen. You can imagine how fun it would be to be able to create such experiences in real time.

Jev: 8 real use cases this fast, cheap model
Claire Val and returning guest John Lindquist discuss Jev, a fast and cost-effective decision model from Type Safe AI, exploring eight real-world use cases including task management, data reconciliation, real-time routing, and agent coordination. They contrast Jev's structured decision-making approach with traditional LLMs, emphasizing how its speed and affordability unlock previously impractical applications.
Jev analyzed 1,700 PRs for 9 cents
A developer used AI (Gemini) to analyze 1,700 pull requests in 2 minutes for just 9 cents, extracting work allocation data across initiatives. This demonstrates how AI can help CTOs and CEOs quantify what percentage of engineering effort goes toward different products or projects.
Jev clusters your data for precise AI actions
Jev is a tool that enables precise AI actions by allowing users to organize large bodies of information through tagging, categorization, clustering, and filtering. The system applies targeted AI operations to specific data clusters, with practical applications including error severity sorting and intelligent email processing.
I tried Muse, Meta's new AI agent (meet Slime 🦖)
The speaker reviews Muse, Meta's new AI agent, highlighting its ability to perform browser-based tasks, connect to multiple data sources, and help users achieve personal goals through an approachable interface. Key features include connectors to email/calendar/health data, idea suggestions, artifact creation, and customizable avatars.
I’m using Jev more than Opus 5.5 or GPT-6. Here’s why.
The speaker demonstrates why they're using Jev, a fast and inexpensive decision-making model from Type-Safe AI, more than other recent models like Opus 5.5 and GPT-6. Jev specializes in classification, clustering, and real-time decision-making tasks at a fraction of the cost of traditional LLMs, enabling complex data analysis and product features that would have been prohibitively expensive before.
