I Pulled An INSANE CASE HIT From Obsidian Football FOTL! 🤯 *COLOR BLAST!*
Card Collector 2 opens six boxes of Panini Obsidian Football First Off The Line (FOTL), pulling high-value autographed cards including a Darien Mensah color blast to 3, Calvin Johnson patch auto to 21, and Keon Russell patch auto to 21. The product features both college NIL athletes and pro hall-of-famers, with the collector highlighting several chase cards and announcing a Champ Bailey patch auto giveaway to viewers.
Summary
Card Collector 2 releases a new video featuring the opening of six boxes (half a case) of the newly released Panini Obsidian Football FOTL product. The product dropped via Dutch auction the previous day and features a 100-card base set with primarily NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) college football athletes alongside vintage pro players like Barry Sanders, Randy Moss, and Charles Woodson.
Across the six boxes opened, the collector pulls several notable hits. In the first box, he immediately hits a Darien Mensah patch auto numbered to 3 paired with a Bryce Young color blast. Box two features a Calvin Johnson (Megatron) lava patch auto numbered to 21 and later yields a Champ Bailey patch auto to 21, which he offers as a giveaway to viewers who comment their Heisman Trophy predictions. The final boxes contain additional strong pulls including Keon Russell patch auto to 21 (a top-5 Heisman odds candidate) and Jane Wade patch auto to 21 (the #2 recruit and #1 QB in the class of 2028).
Throughout the breaks, the collector emphasizes the thickness of packs and the abundance of cards in the product. He discusses notable NIL athletes featured in the set including Jeremiah Smith, Dante Moore, CJ Carr, and Charlie Becker. The collector also promotes Columbus Cardfest, a card show scheduled for December 11-13 featuring over 150,000 square feet of space and 700+ dealer tables. He concludes by noting that Hobby version may release the following Friday and expresses interest in ripping more of the product if viewers request it.
Key Insights
- The Obsidian FOTL product features thick packs with high card density, making it loaded with multiple hits per box including autos and patches
- Darien Mensah patch auto to 3 with Bryce Young color blast was the best pull from the first box, though the collector expressed preference for the NIL athlete to be the featured player rather than Young
- Keon Russell is a top-5 Heisman odds candidate and Ohio State player whose patch auto to 21 represents a significant pull that started a run of back-to-back NIL autos
- Jane Wade, the #2 recruit and #1 quarterback in the class of 2028 committed to Georgia, appeared as a patch auto to 21 in the half-case break
- The collector views this as a chase product primarily for NIL athletes despite the presence of pro hall-of-famers, indicating collector preference for college football prospects over vintage cards
